Project Everest 2009.ca is more than a 8,850-meter climb. Above all, it is designed to make people more aware of the efforts undertaken to inform, provide services and invest in asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) research. This is why the project’s team created a multi-symbol logo.
- The mountain symbolizes the courage, perseverance and dreams of the climbers who will undertake the ascent of the world’s summit despite the many perils involved, and of the children and adults who struggle daily with their illnesses. It also means that the climbers believe in their success and will demonstrate to youngsters that they must never stop believing in their dreams.
- The three stars honour the children and adults who have died of asthma and COPD complications.
- The Lung Association logo symbolizes research and hope.
- The two flags signify that we are all united under a cause, which is to improve the quality of life of asthmatic children and COPD sufferers.
