Mitigation (corrective measures)
MITIGATION OR CORRECTION
A radon problem is above all an infiltration problem. To correct a radon problem consists at the same time in preventing the radon from penetrating into the building and also in evacuating the radon which has already infiltrated.
Currently, only people who have attended courses offered by the National Environmental Health Association or the National Radon Safety Board can provide services for mitigation (corrective measures). Health Canada encourages people to use the services of individuals who participate in one of these certification programs.
The Quebec Lung Association is the partner of the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec and OF Health Canada, to better understand the distribution of radon in Quebec. At their request you will find below the names of individuals who have successfully obtain a certification program and offer corrective measures:

Do not forget that every home is unique so the corrective measures must be performed by a certified and experienced company who will offer you the most appropriate measure for radon reduction. In most cases, these measures are simple and not very expensive. Like all contracts, be sure to ask for references, check with organizations such as the Office of Consumer Protection or CAA Habitation if the supplier has no legal recourse against him. Ask to see the certification of an accredited organization. It is also possible to use the services of qualified contractors in building mechanics, in airiness or other related specialty by following the recommendations of the Guide of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation "Radon: A Guide for Canadian Homeowners" to know how to deal with contractors. This section is on page 31 of the guide.
