Respiratory Health Research Chaire | ![]() |
The Quebec Lung Association will be setting up a $2.5 million respiratory health research chair.
This major research program entitled Immunopharmacologie de l'asthme : vers une rémission de la maladie will have a significant impact on the health of over 2.4 million Canadians who suffer from this disease, 10 to 15% of which are children.
Each week, 9 people die of an asthma attack across the country. It is Canada's most widespread respiratory illness.
This research project will also have a significant impact on the healthcare network, by considerably reducing the cost of medical and hospital care. Each year in Quebec, asthma-related drugs, medical care and hospital stays cost over $150 million.
